About the welcome sessions:

Welcome sessions are the first step to accessing our services. Once you have submitted a referral form or sent us an enquiry, our admin team will receive it and be in touch to answer any questions or to book your welcome session in with the Men Too team.

On the day of your welcome session, we introduce ourselves and what Men Too can offer. We treat the welcome session as an informal interaction to get to know you and your needs. We will listen and answer any questions while filling out your forms and going through your details. We will explain all our services that we offer and if you feel we are unable to provide you with the appropriate support you require, we also network and signpost to other useful and reliable services within the local area.

Please note that the welcome session is not a counselling session, so the member of staff will ask you about your mental health but will not use any counselling skills or ask you to explore further.

You have the opportunity to explain any areas of concern you may have, any support you may require, and an opportunity to get your voice heard. The welcome sessions limit on a confidential 1-1 appointment or if you would prefer a quicker easier access to services via a group induction.

If you request our counselling services on the day of your welcome session, your referral will be sent to WEB’s counselling team to process and put your name on the waiting list. Once there is an available starting date you will be assigned with an appropriate counsellor to fit your needs and availability.

If you feel you need support while on the counselling waiting list, Men Too offer a listening service at any time (Mon-Fri 9am-4pm) and weekly group work and monthly programs to help promote and support mental health.

If you feel suicidal while waiting for any of our services and cannot get in touch with us, please call 999, go to A&E or call Samaritans Helpline on 116-123. There is help and support for you and we value and respect your life.

We ask that you are on time for your welcome session as we have a waiting list and time frame to keep to. We need the full amount of time within your appointment, so you have the opportunity to be welcomed, heard, understood, and further supported.

If you are running late or need to reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible on 0151 653 3771. If you do not turn up to the session without letting us know then we will send you a letter asking if you still wish to access our service. If we do not hear from you within 2 weeks of the letter being sent we will close your referral.  You may only reschedule your appointments three times; any more attempts must be agreed with the admin team with a valid reason.

If you would like to arrange a welcome session to access our services, please click on the ‘referral’ at the top of the page and fill an online form to submit to us. Alternatively, if you have any questions or need assistance to fill out a form, please feel free to contact us on 0151 653 3771.
